Thyroid Disease

Thyroid health plays a crucial role in overall well-being, influencing metabolism, energy levels, mood, and more. Too many people are frustrated by unexplainable weight gain, fatigue, mood swings, and dry skin. They go to their doctor for help, but don't get answers.

Hormone Imbalance

We treat hormone imbalances every day as part of our usual, evidence-based practice. We rely on scientific treatment - and a good helping of trusting personal relationships - to care for hormone problems.

Weight Loss

Weight loss is a complicated topic - and we know how to help. With diet, lifestyle, and medications, we use proven and effective programs for our patients.

Thyroid Disease Can Be Difficult to Diagnose and Treat

Thyroid conditions, with symptoms caused by both high and low hormone levels, can be misdiagnosed or overlooked in conventional medical settings. The symptoms of thyroid dysfunction can be diverse and nonspecific, ranging from fatigue, weight gain, and depression to hair loss, dry skin, and brain fog. This general nature of symptoms can lead to missed diagnoses, leaving patients without proper treatment and support.

Conventional primary care physicians don’t take time to delve deep into complex conditions like thyroid dysfunction. As a result, thyroid issues may not receive the attention they require, leading to under-diagnosis and treatment.

Link Primary Care physicians give you unlimited appointments, with plenty of time and individual attention dedicated to your thyroid or hormone condition.

Link Primary Care’s Approach to
Improving Thyroid Health

We use evidence-based medicine – and a good helping of trusting personal relationships – to care for chronic diseases.
Here is an overview of our comprehensive testing and treatment process.

Comprehensive lab testing

Link Primary Care physicians use specific lab tests to thoroughly  assess thyroid and hormone function.
These tests include hormone levels and thyroid antibody tests to gain a holistic understanding of your thyroid’s health.
We never order tests that are inaccurate, unhelpful, or wasteful.

Imaging Studies

Depending on your symptoms and lab results, both ultrasound and thyroid scanning are used to diagnose thyroid diseases.
Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test that can diagnose lumps or “nodules” found on physical examination.
Thyroid Scans use radioactive iodine to diagnose if thyroid nodules could be cancer.

Needle Aspiration or Biopsy

A biopsy with a needle or minor surgery may be performed if you might have a thyroid nodule that could be cancer.

Personalized Treatment

Based on your diagnosis, there are different treatments for
thyroid diseases.
This includes medications, iodine therapy, or thyroid surgery.

Link Primary Care is better than conventional healthcare.

A key part of diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease is our Direct Primary Care model, which gives you unlimited time and appointments with your personal doctor – unlike traditional healthcare.
Having a trusted physician partner helps you navigate the workup of thyroid disease quickly and easily.

Resolve Hormone Imbalance

Thyroid imbalances are considered hormone issues, but they’re not the only condition involving your hormones.

Hormones play a crucial role in maintaining overall well-being. Hormones act as messengers in the body, orchestrating various physiological processes and ensuring harmony within the systems. However, when these delicate hormonal symphonies go awry, it can lead to a range of health issues.

Lab testing may include checking levels of thyroid hormones, sex hormones (such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone), adrenal hormones (such as cortisol), and more.

The Science of "Balancing Hormones"

The symptoms of “hormone imbalance” are complex and can be confusing.
Hormones regulate metabolism, sleep patterns, mood, immune function, and reproductive health, so their function is vital at every stage of life.

Improved Mood

Hormones significantly influence mood and emotional well-being and can be related to symptoms of anxiety, depression, and mood swings.

Enhanced Energy Levels

Hormones play a critical role in energy regulation. Ensuring proper hormone levels can lead to increased vitality, reduced fatigue, and better overall energy levels.

Optimized Metabolism

Hormones such as insulin and thyroid affect metabolism and weight. Treatment of hormone diseases contributes to healthy weight maintenance and reduced risk of metabolic disorders.

Enhanced Sexual and Reproductive Health

Androgen deficiency is common after ovary removal, adrenal, and pituitary gland disease, and can be a side-effect of some medications. Hormone replacement has been well-studied and is proven to help some patients – but is not useful for everyone.

The old adage "What you don't know won't hurt you" doesn't apply when it comes to one's health and physical well-being. Since putting my health care in the hands of Link Primary Care, each visit makes me feel at ease, and well-cared for, observing Dr. Yalavarthis excellent preparedness, knowledge and insight. In conventional medical practices, which was all I had known prior to switching over, it always felt like, despite giving a medical assistant your reasons for wanting an appointment, you would arrive, wait for 30 minutes and when the doctor walks in, get the predictable question "so what brings you in?" No blame innuendo here....it's baked into the sheer case-load that most doctors are subjected to. With Link, when I arrive, my medical history has been freshly reviewed ahead of time and we hit the ground running. Not feeling like my appointment clock is ticking, allows me the mental space to really talk through issues, and in return, receive thoughtful and skilled diagnoses and recommendations. The comfort level cuts both ways, in this less hurried situation. This is the kind of personalized/responsive health care I think we all deserve. I believe the secret sauce is in their business model (and choice of great doctors of course) and I couldn't be more satisfied!

I see Dr. Bereda and although I’m not a frequent flyer, the times I’ve needed him, he’s been available pretty quick. In one visit he figured out what was wrong with me hip when no other doctor had. After a dog bite, he was available to tell me what to do, call in meds, and schedule my follow up visit.

Our family couldn't be happier with Link Prmary Care. The doctors are great and they provide so many services in the office so you don't have to go to a bunch of specialists. The office staff is great too!

All the Perks of Primary Care...
Without the Hassle of Insurance

Link Primary Care does not take insurance like most clinics and hospitals. There’s a good reason for this. Insurance adds extra fees and admin costs. It also muddies the doctor-patient relationship. By not accepting insurance, our team is able to provide better service at a lower cost. Instead, get the care you need through a simple monthly or annual membership.

Some HSA programs can be applied, but please check with your policy provider first.

Frustrated with Weight Loss? See Results When You Target the Thyroid and Hormones

Traditional weight loss programs often rely on strict diets, intense exercise regimens, and even weight loss surgeries to help people shed unwanted pounds. While these approaches may be effective in the short term, they often fail to produce lasting results.

Link Primary Care takes a more comprehensive approach that addresses the underlying causes of weight gain – including chronic diseases, poor nutrition, stress, hormonal imbalances, and more.

Your weight might be a symptom of a deeper issue. By treating the root cause, we can kickstart your weight loss process.

Here's Why You’re Not Losing Weight

There are several underlying health reasons that contribute to unsuccessful attempts at losing weight. While exercise and proper nutrition will always be part of a holistic weight loss treatment, we want to look at every factor affecting your body composition and weight.

One common factor affecting weight loss is an underactive thyroid, which can slow down metabolism and make it more difficult to burn calories. Other hormonal imbalances, such as high levels of cortisol, can also interfere with weight loss. Additionally, insulin resistance, which is often associated with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and type 2 diabetes, can make it challenging for the body to process carbohydrates and manage blood sugar levels, leading to weight gain.
